Week 6: 09/30/2019 - 10/06/2019
This week, work continued with the LIDAR sensor and creating code that detected objects. After discussing different approaches, we were able to create a program that can detect objects on a small scale (1 to 2 feet) for testing purposes. This is a big step in the right direction as this now allows for us to integrate the LIDAR with the stepper motor and see how it operates while being rotated. In order to get this next process going, Sean started modeling a new bracket to hold the LIDAR sensor onto the stepper motor and also hit the limit switch in order to reset itself upon startup. A few screenshots of the 3D models from Fusion360 can be seen below. Also the writing parts for Chapter 1 and 2 of the report were completed and now just need minor formatting changes and pictures to be added later on.
