Week 8: 10/14/2019 - 10/20/2019
This weeks focus was on two main things: creating displays and working with the TFT display and finishing work on 3D printing the housing module for the back of the bike. For the TFT display, two different screens were created. The first was a welcome screen that will display upon every startup just to add some creative and fun element to the project. A video of this welcome screen can be seen below. The second screen we are calling the detection screen. Here is where the rider can see some different information at a glance as they are riding. So far what we have is three different statuses (Not Incoming, Object Detected, and Incoming) that display at the same time as three different colored circles (Green, Yellow, or Red) that correspond with the status. The circles allow a quick look down to see what is going on with the detection of any vehicles. The status list is just a way to remember what each level represents. A second piece of information displays when the status changes to Object Incoming and that is the estimated distance away the object is. We decided that this was just another handy tool to keep the rider informed. A short video of this can also be seen below.

Apart from the work on the TFT display, time went into finishing the 3D models for the back of the bike and getting them printed to start configuring all the hardware in the best way. Because the Stepper Motor, Limit Switch, Camera and LIDAR sensor all are housed in the same area, a creative way to lay them all out had to come to fruition. Some pictures of the 3D models can be seen below.
